July 12, 2007 Shane Yellowbird single "Pickup Truck" a hit with fans and music industry
Shane Yellowbird has scored his biggest hit yet with the single "Pickup Truck". The single went top 10 for 10 weeks on the BDS/Mediabase and TraxReport, and was the #1 Canadian song for five weeks. The song also hit number one officially on this month's (July) Country Music News Top 100 chart. After the success of his first two singles, "They're All About You" and "What a Beautiful Concept"-- both of which also reached top ten status-- Yellowbird is ecstatic about having his third single achieve such success. "It's been such a whirlwind" says Yellowbird about the success of his debut album "Life is Calling My Name", "I'm really blown away by the response I've gotten with this first album-- the fans have been amazing and so supportive, and I'm so grateful for that." The industry seems to agree with the fans, as Yellowbird has been racking up a long list of nominations for various awards. He has already made it past the second round of nominations for this year's CCMAs in categories such as ‘Single of the Year", "Album of the Year" and the "Rising Star Award". Yellowbird is humble when questioned about the success of his album and his various awards nominations; "I'm honoured", says Yellowbird, "And that's all I can really say about it, I'm truly honoured." Yellowbird will be in Edmonton July 23rd to 27th for the Edmonton Capital Exhibition.
