March 15, 2007 Shane Yellowbird Releases New Single: Pickup Truck
Is there anything more country than a song about a pickup truck?
Fast-rising country star Shane Yellowbird puts a fresh spin on the
traditional country theme with his newest release aptly titled Pickup
Truck.
"It's a fun country song that takes a playful stab at cheesy and
unsuccessful pick up lines," says Yellowbird.
The Ponoka-native's charm and sense of humour shine through the
light-hearted lyrics and smooth traditional country style.
The song already created a buzz while Yellowbird opened for Emerson
Drive on their recent 21-stop tour across Canada. Thousands of fans
recently joined Shane on the chorus of Pickup Truck and roared their
approval.
"Pickup Truck was also the most asked about song when audiences gathered
at the merchandise tables after the show," commented Yellowbird.
The tour was Yellowbird's first cross-Canada trek and first opportunity
for many of his fans to see him perform live. In one of the largest
venues on the tour, a hockey arena in Kamloops, Yellowbird experienced a
rarity for an opening act… a standing ovation.
"It was an incredible feeling," Yellowbird says. "We sold out of all the
merchandise we had that night."
Pickup Truck is the third release off his debut album "Life Is Calling
My Name". It follows Shane's Top 10 hit, "They're All About You" which
was one of the hottest songs in 2006, and "Beautiful Concept" which won
for single and video of the year at the Aboriginal People's Choice Music
Awards.
Pickup Truck will hit the airwaves next week and the video, shot in
Vancouver last month, will debut on CMT in the coming weeks.
